Music, Music, Music!

As you can see, we love music.

Music of all kinds has had a major impact on our family. Each of the children started taking piano in elementary school. In addition, Ben played guitar, Luke took on viola, and Rebekah, violin. Only Rachel has continued with piano throughout high school. An interest in vocal music was added when Jordan started 9th grade and began singing for the local home school choir. His siblings started in as well. During his junior year, Jordan formed a barbershop quartet. What started out as a plan for a single event, ended lasting two years, culminating in a western regional high school barbershop quartet competition in which they placed 3rd. In the fall of his senior year, Jordan was nominated for the ACDA National High School Honor Choir. He was one of 300 voices (half guys, half girls) from all over the nation and Mexico who ended up being selected for the ACDA Convention in Feb of 2005. This was a very memorable time for Jordan. Jordan also ended up taking a part in a local community production of "The Music Man", sang for his high school graduation, and went on to sing for Fresno Pacific University, as well.

Rachel now teaches piano to more than 15 students, and Luke plays viola in the local youth symphony. Music is quite an investment, but has never been one that we have regretted.
