Sunflowers and other blossoms, a la Theron

Theron just loves working in the garden.
I get to reap the benefits of his labor just by looking out the kitchen window.

Can you see Josiah?

Valley Swim Finals '08

Yesterday we attended the CIF Central Section Prelims for swimming. Ben (like Rachel, it seems) is a breaststroke swimmer.
He had to make a time standard of 1:08.26 just to swim Valleys. He qualified with a 1:06.25 this season, which seeded him 20th going into yesterdays trials out of about 40 breaststrokers in 5 heats. His goal was to get to swim today (top 16 swimmers) in the finals at Clovis West. (drum roll…) He did it! He placed 14th, with a seed time of 1:04.09! (That time just happens to have broken the school breaststroke record, by the way, previously set in 2005 at 1:05.35.) Pretty cool. Here's a video clip of the finals today...(sorry about our ghetto camcorder.) Check out the scoreboard to see his NEW school record!!!

So how did Ben end up placing? Tenth in the entire valley (including Clovis schools) - Division I, Division II...everyone from the grapevine on up to Yosemite! Can you tell we're proud?

Bekah 'n Peter having fun

When Peter Thronson was over spending the night with the guys, he sat down and played Gavotte with Bekah! We love Peter.

League Championships

Pretty exciting year at swim finals. Luke (14) swam in his first varsity championship.

Ben (16) beat his personal best with a 1:06.24 in the 100 m breaststroke, qualifying him for valley finals in two weeks.

All the best people were there!

And all the fastest!! (Matt Boogaard)
See you at Clovis West on May 16 & 17!

and....Here are some Sprint Meet clips. Hope you enjoyed the hilarious guy to the right of Ben as much as I did!

CHEFA Banquet

For you out-of-towners, the banquet is our big home school formal.
Our guys were quite dashing, I think...

They cleaned up very well (some of them, in the swimming pool.)

They called to let us know how it was going...

And they said the dancing was their favorite part.

Good times.
