Trip to Oklahoma

On the 26th of December, we left for Oklahoma. Theron is one of 11 children, and every other year the 10 living children and their spouses make the trek back to Oklahoma to be with one another for as many days as possible over the holidays. Aunts, uncles, grandchildren (33 of them) and great-grandchildren travel from as far west as California, and as far east as South Carolina. Although their mother has gone home to be with the Lord, 92 year old Dad continues to be the anchor of the group. I am so thankful for the Christian heritage of my husband's family.

Theron's brother Marlin and his wife April have been our hosts for this gathering for many years. God has provided them with a spacious home and the desire to share it with all of us. We enjoy watching the little ones get to know each other, and the teenagers renew their bonds.

This past year, one of the grandchildren, 17 year old Stephen, broke his spine in 3 places in a terrible accident. God miraculously spared his life, and everyone enjoyed being able to visit with Stephen in Oklahoma City. Stephen is now walking with the aid of a walker, and his speech is almost fully recovered. The trip home always seems longer. It's hard to say good-bye.
